15/2/2011 Neat Contect used their GreenLock G8 EarthLock block for a new parking area outside their factory in Bushman's River. Several of the blocks were manufactured with the addition of a darker chemical pigment and were then used to demarcate the parking bays. A few photos can be seen HERE.

25/9/2010 The new GreenLock G8 EarthLock Block was used to construct a lining for a storm water canal at Cofimvaba near Stutterheim in the Eastern Cape. The project engineers are MDC Makhetha Development Consultants. The blocks were manufactured by Neat Contech. Pictures of the installation can be found HERE.

30/5/2010 An extension was made to the storm water canal project at Motherwell, PE. This time the contractors were Power Construction and once again the G8 EarthLock Block was chosen to ensure continuity with the first project. Some lessons were learnt with the first installation and the blocks now feature a marker on the top corner to ensure the correct laying pattern is used by the installers. Some photos of this installation can be seen HERE.

1/5/2010 The first installation of the new GreenLock G8 EarthLock Block is underway by URSA Civils. The G8 is being used as a lining for a trapesoidal canal in Motherwell, Port Elizabeth. The G8 was chosen for its unique locking ability allowing for easy straight line and curved laying. See the GALLERY for the pictures.

4/4/2010 Four new photo galleries of GreenLock installations have been added to the GALLERY section of this site..

15/2/2010 Neat Contech in Bushman's River are the first GreenLock soil stabilising and soil retaining system manufacturer to produce the new GreenLock G8 GrassBlock designed by GreenLock founder Axel Buttgen. The new product has a revolutionary new design, setting it apart from anything else available to the market. The new GrassBlock is extremely versatile, being used for light and medium soil erosion control, water channeling, water outlets, emergency/temporary and rural roads, parking areas, and driveways. It can be laid on undulating surfaces thanks to the design allowing for non-level meshing. The G8 EarthLock hard lawn block and soil erosion block is the only block on the market which is four-way interlocking, self aligning and can be laid in two different positions for cost efficiency. In both positions the block can be wired or cabled without losing its four-way locking. The technical product details can be found on the G8 PRODUCT Page.

30/11/2009 Greenlock R12 Rockface blocks have been used to retain the entrance and auxiliary areas of the new soccer stadium at Port Elizabeth. The blocks were reversed and installed with the flat back face showing on the outside to give a flat fronted wall complimenting the concrete facade of the stadium. Although not particularly high at 4m in height, the walls were almost vertical. The installation was done by Rand Civils and the blocks were manufactured and supplied by Neat Contech's Humansdorp factory. The ability to use both sides of the block just goes to show the versatility inherent in the design of the GreenLock system. Pictures of the stadium can be seen HERE.

30/10/2009 A massive GreenLock V12 installation was recently completed at the new Coega deepwater harbour in Port Elizabeth by Rand Civils. Four large walls of up to 7.5m high and 70m long were installed to make space for the electrical substations supplying power to the entire harbour facility. The dunes had to be retained to stabilise the area surrounding the substations, with a road running along the top of the embankment. The installation also provided protection from the wind. The V12 blocks, supplied by Neat Contech in Humansdorp, were chosen for this installation as the accurate degree markers on the blocks aided the exact setting out of the blocks and the relatively low block weight allowed for easier on site working conditions. Pictures of the installation can be seen in the Gallery HERE.

12/5/2008 The first half of 2008 has added another two manufacturers to the GreenLock stable. Letabo Brickyard in Tzaneen has recently signed on as a new GreenLock manufacturer, and existing manufacturer Neat Contech has started production of the GreenLock products in its Humansdorp factory. This brings the total number of GreenLock manufacturers in Southern Africa to 12.

29/10/2007 Following several recent visits to SA by GreenLock designer Axel Buttgen there are now 10 GreenLock manufacturers in Southern Africa, 9 in South Africa and 1 in Namibia. See the CONTACTS pages for details. The GreenLock range of blocks has proved to be extremely popular with monthly sales in the Cape Town area alone having doubled over the past year. Several exciting projects have recently been completed, watch this space for the photos coming soon!

29/6/2007 Padley Construction, a general building firm not specialising in retaining wall construction, has just completed a V12 wall in Gordon's Bay. Not only is this a complicated wall with varying heights and curves, but it is a really well designed and built wall, a great example of how it should be done. All required design and construction information was obtained from this website. Click HERE to see Gallery photos.

20/2/2007 A new V12 retaining wall is nearing completion in Camilla Rd, Glen Cairn Heights. The photos of the step by step laying out of the wall have been added as a new album in the GALLERY. Click HERE to view.

18/1/2007 The design possibilities guide for the V12 block has been updated to include walls with more than one right angle corner. Click HERE to view. A new V12 Brochure has also been added to the TECHNICAL page for download.

18/8/2006 Five new manufacturers have signed up to begin manufacture of the GreenLock range of retaining wall blocks, four in South Africa and one in Namibia. The GreenLock range is now well represented on a national level. See CONTACTS page for manufacturer details.
